Soapbox Derby 2010

Our next Soapbox Derby will be held on Sunday 21st March 2010 starting at 9am at Westgate Drive in Waitakere City.
The soapbox derby cars are all built to a standard design and 76 of our local West Auckland school children, aged between 10 and 16, will be racing these down the road. Speeds in the past have reached 56km per hour (we know this because friendly speed cameras have clocked them!) and racing is intense
Items on our program include:
- Racing between 9am and 3pm
- Bouncy castles, miniature train rides and a bungy run
- Schools selling food
- Lunchtime displays
Come and join the fun - and check out our future New Zealand V8 drivers.
- Entry is free
- Gold coin donation for the rides.
- Parking is available at the Salavation Army carpark on Don Buck Road - for a gold coin donation.
All profits to be returned to our local community via Rotary projects.
Note:
- Food stall profits go to the schools who run them
- The car park fee goes to the Sallies
- Ride donations help cover the costs of the rides

The brochure shows what is involved, who sponsor this, where the money goes and a brief history of how this event started in America. It also has plenty of photos from last year. |
